Two locals headed to Sochi for the Winter Games

Two locals are off to Sochi as members of the Canadian snowboarding team.

20 year old Jenna Blasman of Kitchener was announced as a team member Tuesday.

Her father Mark Blasman tells 570 News his daughter’s event is slopestyle snowboarding and the sport is making its Olympic debut.

Jenna will compete in the prelimary round the day before the opening ceremony with hopes of moving on to the medal round on February 9th.

Mark says even though his daughter has travelled all over the world she has always considered herself to be a Kitchener girl.

Also heading to Sochi is Michael Lambert of Waterloo, who competes in the parallel slalom.
