Local ice storm clean up continues

As many cities in southern Ontario continue cleaning up after last weeks’ ice storm, the City of Kitchener says it’s making steady progress in clearing tree debris.

City staff expect most streets to be cleared in the next few days but adds the job won’t be 100% complete until at least February.

Residents are reminded that tree debris on their own property can be taken to the Region of Waterloo’s landfill for disposal at no cost.

The nine leaf drop-off locations will be open during daylight hours until further notice:

·          Schaeffer Park – Bloomingdale Road

·          Breithaupt Park – Kinsman Park, off Union Street

·          Kitchener Auditorium – Ottawa Street, North entrance

·          Meinzinger Park Soccer Fields – Homer Watson Boulevard

·          Lions Arena – Rittenhouse Road

·          South West Optimist Sportsfield – Pioneer Drive

·          Cherry Park – Strange Street and Waverly Road

·          Victoria Street South at Eastforest Trail – Eastforest Trail parking lot

·          Hofstetter Park – 40 Hofstetter Ave.

 

To report a damaged city tree – on either private or public property – call the city’s Corporate Contact Centre at 519-741-2345. Operators are logging calls and will dispatch crews.
