Lenovo interested in RIM?

A new report suggests a Chinese computer maker may have its sights set on Research in Motion.

The National Post online says a senior executive with Lenovo is hinting at a potential takeover bid of RIM.

The report sent shares in the BlackBerry maker higher by two per cent.

Lenovo’s chief financial officer claims talks have taken place involving RIM, his company and bankers about “various combinations or strategic ventures.”

Wong Wai Ming says “We are looking at all opportunities – RIM and many others.”
He adds, “We’ll have no hesitation if the right opportunity comes along.”

If Lenovo does indeed make a play for RIM it would be anything but a slam dunk as regulators in Canada and even the U-S would have the final say.
