Woman dies in Kitchener fire

Fire crews and police were called to a deadly apartment fire at 50 Mooregate Crescent in Kitchener on Monday morning.
As fire crews entered the unit on the fifth floor they discovered the body of a woman.
At the time, spokesperson with the Waterloo Regional Police Service, Olaf Heinzel told 570 News that “the circumstances surrounding the death of the individual and the fire remain under investigation.”
Some of the building’s maintenance crew gathered in the lobby, visibly upset.
A post mortem has since been conducted on the woman’s body found in the apartment. Regional police say the victim died of natural causes and her name is not being released because the incident isn’t considered suspicious or criminal in nature.
