Waterloo Fire Rescue blames an unattended candle as the cause of a fire Thursday night at an apartment on Harvard Place, Waterloo.
$25,000 damage was caused to the unit.
The two people displaced by the fire are being assisted by the Red Cross.
Waterloo Fire reminds residents to extinguish unattended candles, to follow the emergency procedures for an apartment building, and make sure you have working smoke alarms.
