A man is facing charges after an alleged assault at Grand River Hospital’s Freeport site in Kitchener.

Police say on Wednesday night, nurses found a male patient assaulting a female patient in the mental health wing of the hospital.

They were able to restrain the suspect until police arrived.

The victim was injured, but is expected to make a full recovery.

A 33-year-old Kitchener man is charged with attempted murder.
