Another successful year

K-W Oktoberfest is over for another year and organizers are hailing it as a resounding success.

The kegs were sealed early yesterday morning, marking the official end to the local Bavarian festival.

The financial numbers are still being crunched, but officials say early indications are festhallen ticket sales were brisk.

Oktoberfest President, Vic Degutis says “Attendance at the 18 festhallen and 40 family and cultural events has been strong again this year.”

He also says some of the newer events, such as the Stein and Dine culinary event and the RBC Tour De Hans were well received.

It is estimated Oktoberfest pumps about $21-million into the local economy.

As well, the food drive resulted in close to 15,000 pounds of food and over $12,000 in cash donated to the Food Bank of Waterloo Region.

All told, Oktoberfest helped local charities raise over $1.5-Million.
