Waterloo Region’s elementary school teachers will gather later today at Bingemans where they are expected to hold a strike vote.
The move is essentially symbolic, since the provincial government passed legislation earlier this month that froze their wages and banned them from striking.
The local president of the Elementary Teachers’ Federation, Greg Weiler, has told 570 News the vote is a continuation of the normal process his members would have followed if the bill had not passed.
