Practice continues without the teachers

The Eastwood Rebels girls field hockey team and the boys football team were both out on the field without their coaches on Wednesday afternoon.

Jessica plays on the field hockey team and told 570News the team is under impression that it was only for yesterday that they’d have to be without a coach, which they are fine with.

The games however, are a different story.

“We have our games on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s, but we would still need him here for games. And we have our first game tomorrow and that’s why we wanted to make sure that there was a practice going on today (Wednesday).”

The football team meantime was told that they could only use the field to run non-contact plays, and when asked about the coach, most players said they understand why their coach wasn’t there, and said they hope he’s back soon.

“He doesn’t want to make it look bad on the other teachers so he’s doing what the other teachers are. But he wants to be here, we know that”, said Asam, a player on the team.

Not all students were okay with teachers not showing for extracurricular activities, saying it affects the times their parents pick them up.
