An elderly woman is dead after being struck while crossing the street in St. Jacobs.  

Waterloo Regional Police say 74-year-old Doris Bast of St. Jacobs was crossing King Street near Cedar late yesterday afternoon when she was struck by a vehicle.  

She later died in hospital.  

Police say Bast was operating a mobility scooter and was not using the crosswalk.  

The investigation continues and police say speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the collision.
