An Elmira resident has been honoured by the Region with the Senior of the Year Award.
Alma Alder was recognized at last night’s regional council meeting.
She has been a tireless volunteer at the Elmira branch of the Region of Waterloo Library for over 19 years.
In fact, Alder has the longest years of service of any Region of Waterloo Library volunteer.
Library Supervisor Sheryl Tilley says, “Always happy to take on new challenges, Alma Alder personifies the heart of a Library volunteer.”
Tilley adds, “She embraced our automated circulation system, and uses a library computer to check books in and out for us when we are busy at the desk.”
Manager of Public Services, Katherine Seredynska says, “Alma is a marvellous volunteer who freely and regularly gives her time and efforts to help the library. She leads by example and makes a difference in her community.”’
