Tracey Weiler gets the job

Members of the Progressive Conservative Kitchener-Waterloo Riding Association have voted, choosing Tracey Weiler as their candidate for the upcoming byelection.
The PC party is the first to announce their candidate in the race for the seat left vacant by another conservative, Elizabeth Witmer.
Weiler is an instructor for Wilfrid Laurier’s MBA program and a community volunteer.
She spoke to the media following her win. On the topic of being a first time candidate she said, “I think there’s a huge expertise in the Progressive Conservative Riding Association here. We have a lot of expertise in Ontario, in the party and I hope to learn and listen.”
Weiler said the biggest challenge for the riding is focusing on and understanding the current economic situation. “I hear families that are just sitting around the table trying to meet costs, trying to understand escalating costs. I think the economy and job creation is what I’ve been hearing as the most important issue.”
Weiler beat out two others for the candidacy, engineering consultant Don Kaluzny and Waterloo city councillor Angela Vieth.
A date for the Kitchener-Waterloo byelection has not been set.
