Could the Ontario Liberals be headed to a majority?

A new public opinion poll suggests the McGuinty Liberals are leading heading into a pending provincial byelection in the riding of Kitchener-Waterloo.
The Forum Research poll, done for the Toronto Star, finds 39% of those asked would vote Liberal if the byelection took place now.
The Conservatives are second at 32%, the NDP are next at 20% followed by the Green Party at 7%.
The riding became vacant when longtime Conservative MPP Elizabeth Witmer announced last week she was stepping down to become chair of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board.
Witmer has held the riding since 1990 and so far the date for a byelection has not been announced.
It must happen within six months after Witmer stepped down.
The survey was conducted earlier this week and involved 415 respondents.
Forum Research puts the margin of error at 4.8 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
Meanwhile, the premier is in Waterloo Region today, one day after Conservative Leader Tim Hudak made a stop in the area.
