Tori Stafford murder trial to get underway today in London

LONDON, Ont. – A jury in southwestern Ontario is expected to hear today how the Crown alleges a man kidnapped, sexually assaulted and killed eight-year-old Victoria Stafford.

Tori disappeared on her way home from school in Woodstock on April 8th, 2009, and her body was found three months later.

Michael Rafferty, 31, has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder, sexual assault causing bodily harm and kidnapping in the death of the Grade 3 student.

Terri-Lynne McClintic, 21, has already been convicted of first-degree murder in the girl’s death.

Rafferty’s trial gets underway today in London, Ont., and after the judge gives instructions to the jury, the Crown is set to lay out its case against Rafferty.

During the trial the jury is set to visit the site where Tori’s body was found.
