Songs and Stories is raising money for KidsAbility.

Tonight’s concert taking place at the St. Jacob’s Playhouse theatre features a number of Canadian country artists.

They’ll each go behind the song and tell the stories that helped write them.

One of the artists is Carolyn Dawn Johnson. She says one of the songs she loves to tell the back story to is ‘Die of a broken heart’,”that is one of those songs people talk about a lot with me. They’ve sent me many notes and letters or emails and stuff like that about that song. There’s something about that song.”

She says she is looking forward to helping raise funds for something so important, all while getting to talk about her music,”you get inspired in a different way cause you get to hear the songs in their rarest and most original form. That’s how they’re created. And you do hear the stories behind the songs, and when you’re just hearing them on the radio, you don’t get that all the time.”

The concert starts at 8 o’clock. Tickets are 30 dollars for adults and 20 for children, with all proceeds going towards KidsAbility.

KidsAbility helps serve children in the Waterloo Region Guelph Wellington area who have with a wide range of special needs.
