No deal on European debt crisis

Leaders of France and Germany ended their Paris meeting without an agreement on measures to deal with the European debt crisis.

Experts were hoping for short-term rescue solutions.

Nicolas Sarkozy and Chancellor Angela Merkel did say all countries using the euro should have mandatory balanced budgets and better co-ordinated economic policies to protect the currency.

The Toronto stock market ended its five-day rally Tuesday, closing with a triple-digit decline of 153 points.

The Dow closed down 77 points.
