Teen charged in Guelph crash

A 16-year-old is facing charges of careless driving following a head-on collision in Guelph.

Guelph Police say it happened on Saturday afternoon. A 16 year old male driving a minivan was heading north on Watson when it struck a pickup being driven by a 36-year-old male and his 9 year old passenger near Dunlop Drive.

The driver of the pickup truck had to be extricated from the vehicle,
while the passenger walked away from the scene with minor injuries.

The driver of the minivan was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police say both drivers and the 9-year-old passenger were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision.

Total damage to both vehicles is estimated to be $35,000.

The teen will appear in court in June.
