Warning for online shoppers

Regional police are warning online shoppers to take precautions when selling items over the web. The warning follows two similar thefts in the Waterloo area.
The first occurred on Saturday May 29th when a victim met a potential buyer for a Mac Book for sale on Kijiji. The two met at the corner of King Street North and Columbia Street when the suspect grabbed the computer and ran.
About a week later, a similar incident was reported on University Ave East and Regina, this time involving the sale of a camera.
Inspector Greg Lamport says the suspect descriptions are very similar.
The suspect in both cases is described as a black male, 18-20 years with a very thin build, skinny face and about 5’9-5’10.
Police advise people who are selling items on the website to obtain and a name and number to verify the person’s identity.
