Ottawa’s Bluesfest cancels July event, books Rage Against the Machine for 2022

By The Canadian Press

OTTAWA — The RBC Bluesfest in Ottawa is hyping its headliners for 2022 after cancelling the festival for a second year in a row because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Executive director Mark Monahan says in a statement that organizers tried to find a way to host the event in July, but after running out of time, they’re setting their sights on next summer.

Monahan says rock band Rage Against the Machine is set to headline the 2022 Bluesfest, and hip hop duo Run the Jewels are also booked to perform.

He says more musical acts have expressed interest in taking part.

Music fans who held onto their 2020 tickets in hopes of attending the event this summer will be eligible for a refund, or can hold onto their tickets until next year. The refund window ends on April 30.

Passes for the 2022 festival are on sale.
