It feels like that should be an honour the world decides to grant to someone. But it isn’t, really. It’s the result of a singular person wresting the name away from everyone else, making a surname unnecessary by sheer force of personality or will or excellence or notoriety. Or all four of those—like Kobe.

And people who are known by only one name during their lifetimes are both legends as well as real, flawed humans at the same time…this is the story of one of them.
