Body recovered after car crashes into Toronto Harbour

A body has been recovered after a car plunged into Lake Ontario late Thursday night.
Toronto police and the marine unit responded to reports a car crashed into Toronto Harbour in the area of Lake Shore Boulevard West and Parliament Street just before 10:30 p.m.
Police initially told CityNews as many as two people may have been trapped in the vehicle
Bystanders told police they saw at least one person trapped in the car.
The incident happened just as people were boarding a party boat. A witness on board saw the vehicle.
“I saw a car do a three-point turn and begin to back up. I turned my head away and heard a loud splash and then I heard loud sirens go off,” the witness said. “The car that was doing the three-point turn was gone.”
Two men working on a nearby movie set jumped into the water in at attempt to help, trying to smash windows. Despite their efforts, they couldn’t break into the car.
Toronto police were seen examining the metal barrier that was bent by the car right at the water. They continue to investigate the incident.
