A concerning trend continues in Guelph.
Constable Josh Fraser with Guelph Police says there were two more indecent acts reported over the weekend.
“In one incident – we were alerted by the public, and we were able to attend and make an arrest. That’s very positive for our community. Unfortunately with the other one, we were only able to get a description – and that investigation is ongoing.”
Police are still on the hunt for a suspect after that second incident, which allegedly occurred in the Marilyn Drive and Woodlawn Road area on Saturday.
A man was spotted exposing himself, but got away before police arrived. He’s described as being between 50 and 60 years old, has a grey moustache, and was last seen wearing a baseball cap and blue shorts.
“When we get these calls, that people are exposing their genitals or they’re in the act of masturbation, we encourage the public to first get to a place of safety and remove themselves from the situation. Then of course, call 911 immediately, as this requires a fast police response,” explains Fraser.
He adds this is certainly a concerning trend to see in the City of Guelph.
“We have had a spike in this – and Guelph Police are committed to ensuring public safety. We’ve had officers out on bike and foot patrol in these secluded areas, and on the trails.”
If you get caught committing an indecent act, you better be ready to go to jail.
“Indecent Acts fall under the Criminal Code, and it is a Criminal Code Offence, so it goes warrant jailtime if you are convicted.”
