Indecent acts on the rise in Guelph: Police

A warning from Guelph Police.

In a video posted to Twitter, Constable Mike Gatto says there has been an increase in indecent acts over the last few weeks.

“For those that do not understand what an indecent act is – that’s where a person exposes themselves in public. The recent incidents that we’ve been dealing with involve a person exposing their gentials to people – and that’s something that requires immediate police attention.”

Gatto says these incidents generally occur in trails, parks, and isolated areas.

“And because of the urgency, and immediate need for police response – we are asking you to please first make sure you’re safe, that means getting away from the situation before contacting police.”

The latest reported incident happened Thursday morning near Royal City Park.

A man was allegedly waving a ‘fake penis’ at two young girls as they were walking to school. Police were called and searched the area, but weren’t able to track him down.

He’s described as white, between 40 and 50 years old, with a slightly heavy build and dirty blonde hair. He was last seen riding a red bicycle, and wearing a blue baseball hat with white writing.

Anyone with information is urged to contact GPS at  519-824-1212 ext. 7137, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
