High levels of air pollution possible for Waterloo Region, Wellington County

Environment Canada is warning of increasing air pollution for the Region and surrounding areas, as temperatures peak to the low thirties on Sunday — with humidex values expected to make it feel much hotter.

A special air quality statement is in effect — these statement are issued when the potential for high concentrations of smog exist.

The national weather authority says very humid and muggy conditions across southwestern Ontario and the Golden Horseshoe area can cause the air quality to deteriorate.

They reminding everyone that children, seniors and those with chronic health conditions can be particularly sensitive to air pollution and are at the greatest risk of heat-related illness.
