Girl, 7, struck by truck while riding bike in Kitchener, charges not expected

A scary situation for a young girl, but Regional Police say she’ll be OK, after being struck by a pick-up truck in Kitchener while riding her bike and becoming trapped underneath a second vehicle.

Police say yesterday evening, the 7-year-old girl was crossing Queen Street from Elm Ridge Drive against the lights when she was hit, thrown off her bike and lodged under an oncoming car.

She had to be extricated, and was transferred to Grand River Hospital, where she’s being treated for non-life threatening injuries — possibly a broken leg.

Police say they do not expect to lay charges against the driver, but they continue to investigate.
