Guelph man allegedly hits bylaw officer with vehicle while getting parking ticket

Guelph Police have arrested a man for allegedly striking a bylaw officer with his car while he was getting a parking ticket.

They say this happened early Friday evening around Wyndham and Cork Streets.

The suspect was still in his vehicle while the bylaw officer was writing the ticket, and police say he accelerated and collided with the officer.

The bylaw officer was sent to the hospital for medical attention, then released.

The 25-year-old suspect was later found at a home on Gordon Street, where police say he struggled with officers while being arrested.

He’s been charged with Dangerous Driving, Fail to Remain at the Scene of an Accident, Assault with a Weapon, and Resist Arrest.
