Police looking for theft suspect in Kitchener

The search continues for a suspect in a theft at a Kitchener store that resulted in a Good Samaritan being assaulted, and the doors being locked at a nearby school.

Regional Police say they were called to the Strasburg Road and Block Line business Thursday, just before 2:30 p.m., for reports of a robbery.

A man who tried to stop the theft is alleged to have been assaulted, but fortunately, not seriously hurt.

Police initially said they believed a knife was brandished, and called in the K9 unit to help track down the suspect.

A hold and secure at Alpine Public School was later lifted.

Investigators are looking for a white man, between 25 and 35-years-old, six feet tall with a thin build and short light hair.

Photos of the suspect captured on security cameras show the suspect wearing a white plaid button up shirt with black shorts and white shoes.

Police are asking for witnesses to come forward, or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
