Cambridge council set to get update on Preston Springs

A historical building in Cambridge continues to have work done to keep up with a city order.

The update in tonight’s Cambridge city council agenda outlines the current status of Preston Springs, a source of common complaints by residents.

The report spells good news for fans of the building on the corner of King and Fountain.

Haastown Holdings has been completing work outlined in a Minimum Standards Order issued by the city back on April 19th, and the city says it doesn’t look like they’ll have to step in.

They say pits and holes have been covered up on the ground floor, the front entrance secured and there’s plans to put a hoarding around the perimeter of the property.

And there’s talks ensuing to have a community art project completed on the hoarding along the street-facing facade.

102 Fountain South has been standing since 1880 as a luxury hotel and has been vacant since 1990.

Haastown bought the property in 2012 for $1.2-million dollars.
