Waterloo firefighters hosting car wash in support of Mom 2 Mom Africa

Waterloo firefighters are volunteering their time this weekend to help raise money to build a secondary school in Tanzania.

On Saturday May 26th the Waterloo Professional Fire Fighters Association Local 791 will be washing cars at all four fire stations in Waterloo raising funds for Mom2MomAfrica, a Canadian not-for-profit organization that empowers women and children through education.

Joanne Marchildon is a firefighter with Waterloo Fire Rescue she says their goal was to raise $40,000 and they are just $3,000 away.

“The car wash is to help us finish raising our funds to help build a secondary school for the children that we support,” says Marchildon. “We support 104 children in Arusha, Tanzania.”

The car wash runs from 11 a.m.till 1 p.m.
