It’s Cystic Fibrosis Awareness month – and for the entire month of May – 570’s Mike Farwell has been working hard doing odd jobs for donations in support of Cystic Fibrosis Canada.

After bringing in around $88,000 dollars last year, Farwell says he’s on track to make it an even $100,000 this year.

“I start first thing in the morning, that included the long-weekend. I was up feeding chickens, and that’s what should go down as my craziest thing that I’ve done. I cleaned up after the chickens, I fed the chickens, I gave water to the chickens, and I got to keep some of the eggs!”

He says he’s on track to meet his goal, but still needs to bring in around $2,500 every day to get there.

“The days have been starting early, whether its feeding chickens or going to a community centre, and they end late but you just fill in as much as you can along the way to get towards that goal.”

Jeff Beach, Chief Executive Director of CF Ontario Region says the Farwell 4 Hire campaign, and others like it, goes a long way because Cystic Fibrosis Canada isn’t government funded.

“We received the odd grant for summer students and things like that, but our regular funding really comes through fundraising programs and through the generous support of people.”

You can follow the rest of Mike’s journey online by visiting the Farwell 4 Hire Facebook page.

The campaign wraps up June 2nd.
