Wellington County OPP say a 19-year old from Cambridge fled the scene of a RIDE check, bumping an officer with his car, before coming to his senses and returning to the scene.
This happened Saturday night at a RIDE check on Gore Road in Puslinch.
Police say officers were speaking with the driver of a four-door sedan when they noticed a smell of marijuana, and arrested the driver.
But they say while he was still in his car, that driver took off at a high rate of speed, striking an officer’s arm — the officer was not hurt though.
But the driver came back a short time later.
Charges now include escape lawful custody and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
