Threat made at a sixth high school in Waterloo Region

Waterloo Regional Police are investigating another threatening message found at a local high school.

The principal at Jacob Hespeler Secondary School in Cambridge says staff were made aware of some graffiti outside the school on Monday. The message included the statement, “School shooting April 6th.”

Brenda Cathcart says the threat was then reported to police.

“We want to reiterate the statements from our board that it is unacceptable to make threats towards anyone. Our students have the right to learn in a safe environment without fear. No matter the intention, we take any intimidation or threat of violence seriously and the author of this threat needs to understand that they will be held accountable.” Cathcart said in a statement posted on the school’s website.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 519-570-9777 ext. 4421 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Similar threats have been made at five other local high schools in the last two weeks.
