Rangers and Spirit meet in potential playoff preview

We’re into the final week of the OHL regular season.

And if the OHL playoffs were to start today, the Kitchener Rangers and Saginaw Spirit would be matched up in the first round.

They meet for the final time in the regular season Sunday afternoon at The Aud.

The East Avenue Blue are locked into second place, by virtue of winning the Midwest Division. The Spirit, meantime, are in a three-team battle for six, seven and eight with the Windsor Spitfires and Guelph Storm.

Windsor and Saginaw both have 66 points with four games left, while Guelph is a point behind with three games to go.

The Rangers have owned the Spirit this season, sporting a perfect 3-0 record head-to-head (3-2 on October 14, 5-3 on January 13 and 6-2 on January 26).

Kitchener is coming off a tough 4-3 loss to the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds Friday night and have split their last 10 games overall.

Former Ranger Mason Kohn and former head coach Troy Smith make their return to The Aud.

Pregame on 570 News with Mike Farwell and Chris Pope is at 1:30 p.m.
