Pair of former Rangers post shutouts on same night in NHL

It’s not too often a pair of former Kitchener Rangers goalies record shutouts on the same night in the NHL, but it did happen on Tuesday.

John Gibson made 36 saves as Anaheim blanked the Washington Capitals 4-0.

It is Gibson’s 13th NHL shutout.

Steve Mason kicked aside 31 shots as the Winnipeg Jets defeated the New York Rangers 3-0. It was his first shutout since March 15, 2017.

It was also his first game back after missing 21 games due to a concussion.

Meantime, Kitchener’s Mark Scheifele left the game with an upper body injury. The 24-year-old has only played in 50 games this season.
