AltCon 2018 begins at THEMUSEUM

The first ever ‘AltCon’ gets underway this evening at THEMUSEUM in Kitchener.

For those who aren’t familiar with the term, it stands for Alternative Conference for Emerging Arts & Culture Professionals.

CEO of the THEMUSEUM David Marskell explains he wants to put the Region of Waterloo in the spotlight for something other than technology.

“Our community is rich with arts and culture, it’s not just about tech. Also, they will take away experiences they will use right now as they begin or start to get into the middle years of their career.”

Marskell says a wide range of people can benefit from the event which aims to empower emerging art and cultural professionals and provide a chance for them to build their own skills and network.

“It really is a great cross-section of learning. It’s not just meant for museums and art galleries, it’s really for the broader arts and cultural sector.”

AltCon 2018 goes at THEMUSEUM until Tuesday, you can learn more by clicking here.
