A very early start for the Kitchener Rangers.
They tangle with Mississauga this morning in the Steelheads’ School Day Game.
The idea is to attract more young people to Mississauga’s home games.
The Steelheads are in a dog fight to make the playoffs, holding down the 8th and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with 50 points.
They have been on a bit of a roll lately, with a 6 wins, 3 losses and a shootout loss in their past 10 games.
Kitchener is also rolling, going 9 and one in their past 10 games.
The Rangers are first in the Midwest Division with 74 points.
They’ll take to the ice today without defenceman Logan Stanley in the lineup – he’s serving the second game of a two game suspension.
There’s more than a little local content on the Steelheads.
Former Ranger Cole Carter is a member of their team and their roster includes no fewer than 5 K-W natives.
