Local Muslim groups commemorate Quebec mosque victims at City Hall

The emotional scars of terror remain deep almost a year after the Quebec City mosque shooting that killed six Muslim men and wounded more than a dozen others.

Locally, the Coalition of Muslim Women of KW is hosting a commemoration event for the anniversary of the horrific shooting.

The Coalition says its hosting an interfaith prayer to quote – “remember the victims, reaffirm our commitment to protect places of worship, share concerns about Islamophobia, and celebrate the immense support we received from the larger community following the shooting.”

A number of other local Muslim groups will be in attendance – including the Islamic Humanitarian Service, Interfaith Grand River, KW Islamic Association, and the Muslim Association of Canada.

It runs at Kitchener City Hall’s Rotunda starting at 3 p.m. Sunday.
