Kitchener Rangers host annual ‘Don Cameron Potato Night’ against Saginaw

Don Cameron stepped aside from calling Kitchener Rangers games in 2015 after 50 years at the helm.

However, as an homage to his Summerside, PEI roots, he’s found a way to make an impact for another 50 years. The impact will continue to be felt with a simple vegetable, a potato.

The Don Cameron Potato Night is taking over the Kitchener Auditorium Friday January 26, 2018 when the Saginaw Spirit come to town. This will be the 21st edition of the potato night.

Alyscia Warner, Communications Manager for the Kitchener Rangers says ‘We ask fans to bring sacks of potatos or financial donations to the game Friday night in support of the House of Friendship and to help feed those in need here in our community and potatos are a great way to do it.’

Dawn Gill with the House of Friendship adds ‘I think it’s really special for Rangers fans and it’s one way they can reach out and help neighbours who are just like them but may having a tough time right now and it’s people helping people.’

Puck drop is slated for 7:30, but you can catch all the coverage on 570 NEWS starting at 7:00pm or online at 570news.com
