A professor at the University of Guelph has been placed on leave while the university looks into an incident involving inappropriate comments made to a student and educational assistant during class.
The university has released a statement on its Twitter page from Provost and Vice-President, Charlotte Yates, saying it reportedly happened at a night class on January 15th.
The statement doesn’t specify what type of incident they are investigating, but students are taking to social media saying the professor allegedly mocked a student with severe anxiety.
One student goes on to say the prof “verbally attacked a fellow student in lecture pointing out that he had an EA and referring to her as a ‘handler’ in the negative perspective.”
They say the student involved left the room crying.
A video is also circulating on Twitter of a student who reportedly stood up to the prof in the middle of the lecture hall.
