The spotlight will be on our national pastime and our seven NHL teams on Saturday.
January 20th is Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada, an almost 13 hour broadcast. It starts at 1 p.m. ET on Sportsnet and the CBC, live from Corner Brook, Newfoundland.
The first game has Winnipeg visiting Calgary (3 p.m. Sportsnet and CBC). That match up features three local connections. Kitchener’s Mark Scheifele (currently injured), Bryan Little of Cambridge and former Kitchener Rangers goalie Steve Mason all play for the Jets.
At 7 p.m. on the CBC, the Leafs visit the Senators.
Toronto’s roster includes former Kitchener Rangers Nazem Kadri and Josh Leivo. Ottawa has Kitchener’s Mike Hoffman and former Guelph Storm goalie Craig Anderson.
The last all Canadian match-up has Edmonton home to Vancouver (10 p.m. Sportsnet and CBC).
Montreal also entertains Boston (7 p.m. on Sportsnet).
