Stratford man charged for allegedly extorting women over nude photos

Stratford Police have arrested a 22-year old man for allegedly extorting over a dozen women for sexual purposes — and police fear there may be more victims.

Investigators say Josh Alexander, from Stratford, would use fake Instagram and Snapchat accounts to lure women in, and convince them to send him naked photographs of themselves.

He would promise big money in return, but instead all the women got were threats that he would share the photos to the victim’s Facebook friends and family members.

Police say they’ve found women across the province who were victimized this way, and they believe there are more victims still to find.

Police are urging anyone who has been a victim, or who has information about this case to contact Detective Constable Jeff McGregor of the Stratford Police Criminal Investigations Division at 519-271-4147 ext. 187.

Alexander is so far facing 35 charges, including 16 counts of extortion.
