Michael Ball’s retrial for a local murder case is set for St. Catharines

A retrial in a Kitchener murder case will move forward in St. Catharines.

Michael Ball will be coming back to court for renewed proceedings as early as January, with a trial expected to start in April.

The Region’s Crown Attorney’s office has confirmed the new location to 570NEWS.

Ball was charged with first-degree murder, and indignity to a body for the death of Elmira’s Erin Howlett in 2013.

Her body was found in a bag in the Grand River.

Ball was convicted on the indignity charge, but the murder charge ended with a mistrial.
