The football season may soon last longer in Canada.

A group is hoping to get Canadian Arena League Football off the ground by late March.

Areas like Waterloo Region, London and Windsor have all been identified as potential markets.

The league has already had some preliminary talks with potential ownership groups in Ontario and Eastern Canada.

CAL Founder David Parsons tells 570 NEWS they aren’t looking to compete with the Canadian Football League, but instead, serve as a farm system for the CFL.

Parsons adds the season would run from March until early July. Each team would play five games at home and five on the road.

He says there’s a strong possibility they will get their first season going in 2018, if not, they will push the launch to 2019.
