Ager Hasan denied bail, will stay in San Antonio during his extradition process

Dressed in an orange jumpsuit with black slippers on and handcuffed, 24-year-old Ager Hasan from Hamilton entered a federal courtroom in San Antonio, Texas only to hear he’d been denied bail.

That means Hasan will sit inside a Texas jail cell until a decision on whether to extradite him or not is made by a United States federal judge.

The hearing lasted just over an hour, with Hasan’s mother testifying in her son’s defense. His mother said she’ll take care of him and make sure he isn’t out of her sight during the process.

Hasan’s lawyers argued inside the courtroom that the murder suspect should be released on terms of re-apperearing for his extradition decision and living with an ankle bracelet.

However, that didn’t fly with the courts, and Hasan was denied bail.

The next step is waiting on a decision from the federal judge which could take up to three months.

Hasan is wanted on a second-degree murder charge for the stabbing death of 22-year old Melinda Vasilije. She was found with multiple wounds inside her Kitchener apartment back on April 28th, 2017.
