Fourteen.

The streak is now 14.

“It’s definitely a dark cloud over us,” said Kitchener Rangers defenceman Connor Hall.

The London Knights have gotten the better of the Rangers for 14 straight games. The Knights nipped the Rangers 5-1 Friday at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium.

The last time the Rangers routed the Knights was 662 days ago; December 29, 2015.

The Knights victory is only their second of the season, and it snaps an eight game losing streak.

But, if you ask Rangers Head Coach Jay McKee whether the streak was on the team’s mind, he says it’s not discussed.

“The bottom line is London executed better than our guys,” said McKee. “Our best players have to be our best players.”

They weren’t. At all. The Rangers are 1-for-their-last-17 on the power play; including 0-for-5 with the man advantage on Friday.

It was a different story in London-land. Max Jones had the hat-trick, while Robert Thomas added two more goals to lead the Knights offensively.

London proved they’re a much better team than their record coming into the game.

“Did you see their first two lines?,” asked Adam Mascherin post game. “I could care less about their record or how many times they have beaten us in the past. I think their first two lines are drafted and signed, so they’ve got some fire power up front and we definitely saw that today.”

Former Knight Kole Sherwood made his Rangers debut, but didn’t make the score sheet.

Joseph Raaymakers made his debut in the Knights goal, stopping 35-of-36 Rangers’ shots. The lone goal he gave up, was when he misplayed the puck in front of his net onto the stick of Eric Guest.

Kitchener goalie Luke Richardson picked up the loss. He stopped 33-of-38 Knights shots, including numerous highlight-reel saves in the third period.

The Rangers are on the road today in Oshawa to face the Generals.
