A Kitchener city councilor is not happy that the Ontario Municipal Board has overruled a council decision and giving the go-ahead for a fast-food drive-thru at Ottawa and Strasburg.
An A&W will now be setting up shop there, despite concerns about being right next to a residential area.
Ward 6 councilor, Paul Singh, tells the Mike Farwell show, Thursday, he objected to the plan in the first place primarily because of concerns over traffic.
“Strasburg Road is a fairly narrow roadway approaching Ottawa Street. Across on the other side, we have our fire headquarters as well, so you need easy access to this intersection,” Singh says. “My concern was with more frequent visits to the franchise that you may have some bottleneck.”
The restaurant will be going up on the south-east corner of the intersection where a gas station once stood.
