Arrest warrant issued for Cambridge man in connection to eaves troughs scam

Regional Police are searching for a Cambridge man wanted in connection to an eaves troughs scam making the rounds in Galt and the Borden Avenue area of Kitchener.

Police say they’ve received more than 30 complaints from August 3rd to September 6th.

The man reportedly targets women and elderly women who live alone, and acts aggressively to get payment in exchange for cleaning eaves troughs… however the man takes the money and never returns to do the work.

Police say in some cases, the man convinces the victim to let him inside their home for an “inspection.”

The same man also reportedly came back to one home after being denied, broke in, and took personal items. After he was confronted by the owner of the home, the man got away on a bicycle.

Police are searching for 56-year-old Brian Bingley of Cambridge.

Bingley is wanted for a break and enter, mischief under $5,000, uttering threats, and two counts of fraud under $5,000.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 519-650-8500 ext. 8422 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
