Parts makers feeling impact of CAMI strike

Over 2,000 workers at the CAMI plant in Ingersoll remain on the picket line Thursday. They are now into day four of their strike.

The Unifor workers belong to Local 88 and a Unifor member in Ingersoll has now created a Twitter account – @camijobaction – calling it the official account of the CAMI strike against General Motors.

The strike is having a ripple effect.

Magna International says it has now suspended the supply of its’ parts to the CAMI plant, adding it will also impact a few other Magna facilities in Ontario.

Unifor says it is taking its fight in Ingersoll and bigger NAFTA concerns to Ottawa on Friday.

Union members plan to board buses at 7 a.m. to attend. The rally will get underway at 4 p.m. in Ottawa.
