Cambridge man protesting in thong to get his weed back, facing new charge

A Cambridge man, who has been spotted in front of the Kitchener courthouse, protesting in skimpy underwear, while smoking a bong, is facing a new charge.

On Thursday morning, Waterloo Regional Police confirmed 31-year-old Jeffery Shaver has been charged with an indecent act.

This new charge comes after a man was arrested outside the Kitchener courthouse, while wearing a thong and exposing his buttocks.

Shaver had started his protest about four months ago, first fully clothed, but then he realized that he wasn’t getting the exposure that he had hoped for.

Flash forward to a month ago, and that’s when he started wearing nothing but socks, running shoes and a pair of brightly coloured briefs.

Shaver’s protest has picked up some traction, being reported on by vice.com, The Canadian Press and was even translated on an Indonesian website.
