The Waterloo Region District School Board is looking for a few helping hands when they host the Canadian Student Leadership Conference at the end of September.

The annual conference is being hosted at Sir John A. MacDonald and will see over 1,000 student leaders attend.

All students will be staying with a billet and as of today, they still about 80 volunteers short.

Sandy Millar is the conference co-chair and says it’s a great opportunity to show off the region to a young visitor. “This is really a great opportunity for these kids to immersed in our community and learn about our culture and meet the people who make it so special.”

Millar adds, the billet duties are fairly easy, you simply need to provide a bed, couch or air mattress, breakfast and a ride to and from Sir John A MacDonald.

Volunteers can sign up online by following this link.

The conference has teamed up with Waterloo Region Police Service who will do a police check free of charge.

The conference starts September 26th and runs until October 1st.
